Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Please note: this is a template policy provided for illustrative purposes during the Porter beta. It must be reviewed and finalised by a qualified solicitor before the platform goes live with paying customers.

1. Who we are

Porter (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides an AI-powered virtual property viewing assistant for UK estate agencies. This policy explains how we handle personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Buyer enquiry data: name, email address, telephone number, financing position, mortgage status, chain status, intended move date and any information voluntarily shared during a chat.
  • Agency account data: business name, contact name, email, telephone, billing address and payment details.
  • Technical data: IP address, device type, browser, timestamps and pages visited.

3. How we use your data

We process personal data to deliver the Porter service: facilitating conversations between buyers and our AI, generating qualified lead reports for our agency customers, processing subscription payments, providing customer support and improving the platform.

Our lawful bases under UK GDPR include performance of a contract, legitimate interests and, where applicable, consent.

4. Sharing your data

Buyer enquiry data is shared with the estate agency hosting the Porter conversation. We use trusted sub-processors (cloud hosting, email delivery, payment processing and AI model providers) bound by data processing agreements. We do not sell personal data.

5. How long we keep data

Buyer enquiry data is retained for up to 24 months from the date of the conversation, unless the agency requests earlier deletion. Agency account data is retained for the duration of the subscription plus 6 years for tax and accounting compliance.

6. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request erasure of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Data portability
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

7. International transfers

Where data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on adequacy decisions or appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
